Chetwynd

Chetwynd enjoys a quiet location to the north-west of the campus, just a short walk from the Queen’s Sports Centre, playing fields, netball courts, and Astro pitches, with The Central Dining Room also nearby.

Its beautiful views and sense of tranquillity offer the girls a peaceful space away from the busy centre of the School.

At the heart of Chetwynd is a strong sense of care and community, where every girl is known as an individual and encouraged to be herself. We, as House staff, place great importance on creating a positive and supportive environment in which the girls can enjoy themselves, have fun, and feel confident to challenge themselves.
House life at Chetwynd teaches the girls how to navigate both success and failure with resilience and perspective, knowing they are supported every step of the way. We celebrate effort and achievement, value each girl’s contribution to our community, and encourage the girls to support, encourage, and look out for one another.
The girls are encouraged to embrace the wide range of opportunities available at Charterhouse and to make the most of their time here, as the years go by very quickly. Through their experiences, they build lifelong friendships, develop new skills, create lasting memories, and grow into confident, independent young people. Chetwynd plays a vital role in this journey, and it is a privilege to support each and every one of them and watch them flourish.

Chetwynd is a warm community that welcomes everyone and treats everyone with respect. It is a House that values kindness and support for each other before anything else. You will find that, in Chetwynd, there is a great variety of abilities among pupils, ranging from academics, sports, and art. Everyone’s individuality and contributions are cherished, and there is a strong unity among pupils, regardless of the year group. The Head of House is a great mentor who leads by example.
Chetwynd is a happy place, and it has become a true home away from home.
