Daviesites
Daviesites was designed by Richard Gilbert Scott, the son of Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, architect of the Memorial Chapel.
It enjoys a superb location – equidistant from the sports centre, the theatre, and the Hashrooms. Study bedrooms offer wonderful views over the School grounds, and the main common room opens directly onto the playing fields. The accommodation allows nearly every boy to have his own study-bedroom throughout his time at Charterhouse.

Phil Comerford joined Charterhouse in 2023 as a Teacher of Physics and Deputy Head of Gownboys. This followed seven years at Caterham School, where he was responsible for running a boarding house for junior boarders. He has also played an active role in academic life at Charterhouse, serving as a Head of Year for both Removes (Year 10) and Fifths (Year 11).
Prior to joining Charterhouse, Phil taught physics at Bradfield College, where he was a boarding tutor in both boys' and girls' houses. Earlier in his career, he gained valuable experience as a Head of Department in the state sector. Phil holds a BSc in physics and chemistry, as well as an MSc in Science Communications from Dublin City University.
Away from School, Phil can often be found exploring the Surrey countryside on one of his many bicycles. He is also a keen aviator and enjoys taking to the skies in his small aeroplane.
Phil is joined in Daviesites by his partner, Alex, and their two young children. Together, they are looking forward to making the boarding House a welcoming and happy home, where every pupil feels known, supported, and part of the community.
A boarding house is defined by the character of the boys within it and the culture they create together. In Daviesites, our boys strive to build an environment that is inclusive, encouraging, and ambitious. They understand that by strengthening the community around them, they develop as individuals. A Daviesite knows that success is built on attitude, effort, and character, and that great outcomes follow from a great approach.
One of the great strengths of a boarding education is its ability to help shape young men into the very best version of themselves. At the heart of Daviesites is a commitment to character. They aspire to be the hardest-working people in the room, the first to volunteer when help is needed, and individuals who contribute positively to the lives of others. In doing so, they develop the confidence and self-respect that come from genuine achievement and service.
The exceptional sense of community within Daviesites is one of the reasons I was so excited by the opportunity to lead a boarding house once again. My aim is to create a home where every boy feels known, valued, and supported; a place where friendships flourish, ambitions are nurtured, and lifelong memories are made. I also believe that strong partnerships with parents are central to a successful boarding experience, and I look forward to building those relationships as part of the wider Daviesites family.

Daviesites is a loving and sharing House; the people of the House are always willing to help others when their support is needed. They are kind and helpful, and they are ready to fight for Daviesites in any sort of competition (from water polo to chess), no matter what. In addition to all that, Daviesites seems to be one big family. When I look at other Houses, I feel none of them can quite match us for family spirit. It makes me feel proud to be a Daviesite.
